The Black Pot Collection
The Black Pot Collection is a traveling archive and exhibit dedicated to documenting the visual history of Black culinary, beverage, and hospitality labor. Through photographs, cookbooks, menus, and other historical materials, the collection traces the people and spaces that helped shape American food culture.
Many of the individuals represented in these materials worked in restaurant kitchens, hotel dining rooms, railroad dining cars, private households, and public institutions. Their labor helped build the foundations of American hospitality, yet their names and stories were often left out of the historical record.
The Black Pot Collection works to preserve and share these histories through research, exhibitions, culinary programming, and public storytelling connected to the work of the Black Pot Supper Club.
